MEET THE FOUNDER
Meet Carmen Dong
MTA
Carmen (she/her/hers) has loved music for as long as she can remember, using it as a way to connect with family, friends, and herself. born and raised in Canada to first-generation immigrant parents from China, Carmen grew up in a bi-cultural environment that offered meaningful lessons from both cultural contexts, shaping her sense of identity and values. she has lived in both urban Ontario and a small rural town in Northern British Columbia, and is now based in Vancouver. navigating relocation and living across diverse communities has broadened her worldview and deepened her appreciation for the peacefulness of rural life. throughout these transitions, exposure to familiar music and music across diverse genres has offered comfort, grounding, and a way to explore belonging across cultural communities.
she is an Accredited Music Therapist (MTA) and has experience working with children in pre-school, elementary and after-school programs, adults in tertiary mental health care and older adults in long-term care homes. she also has 3 years of volunteering experience in various units of BC Children’s Hospital. she has completed Level 2 of Guided Imagery in Music (GIM) and Neurologic Music Therapy Training (NMT).
